Programme Description
The English programme runs throughout the academic year and is structured into 6-week blocks.
Lessons will challenge pupils to:
- Analyse characters, themes, language and authorial intent in greater depth.
- Enhance oracy skills in collaboration with an able peer group.
- Explain and justify ideas using evidence from high-quality texts.
- Build an increasingly rich and precise vocabulary.
- Develop critical thinking and independent responses.
- Write with greater sophistication, accuracy and control.
- Prepare for the demands of selective school entrance examinations.
